Building Human Capital Development in Africa

The demographic transition and the ICT revolution, especially in mobile technology, provide a unique opportunity for growth and poverty reduction in Africa. The Human Development Department seeks to move Africa from a dependency on natural resources and a low skilled workforce to efficiency and innovation driven economies.

In line with the African Development Bank’s Human Capital Development Strategy, operations in Education, Health and Social protection mainly focus on three key issues: Skills development and competitiveness for jobs, Value for Money and voice and accountability, and Social Cohesion and Inclusion.

The Human Capital Development Strategy aims to seize these opportunities though targeted programs and initiatives. www.afdb.org

The debate on the role and impact of CSR on corporate, manager and stakeholder behaviour and practice continues to rage. There are now many standards, many types of certification and monitoring programs, many accrediting agencies, numerous conferences generated by the stakeholder groups and associations, and many entities able to put their expectations about corporate behaviours and practices in front of corporations. The result of this proliferation is a degree of confusion and the need for consolidation. The World CSR Day is guided by Leaders.... Leaders who believe in the value of Sustainable CSR; that which is built in the fabric of business - making it a reality. "Leaders produce Leaders" will be a common thread uniting nations and people who take CSR more responsibly. We also believe that CSR is a tool to the Development of the Future. The propagation will be in different parts of the world and help in spreading the message of World CSR Day. Let’s Unite the World with the Spirit & Energy for conscious CSR.
