Tony Carr is the Staff Development Co-ordinator of the Centre for
Educational Technology (http://www.cet.uct.ac.za) at University of
Cape Town. Together with several colleagues his work is focussed on
developing the capacity of UCT educators to teach effectively with
technology. He is also one of the organisers of the e/merge 2006
online conference (http://emerge2006.net) which aims to strengthen
communities of educational technology practitioners and researchers in
Southern Africa and beyond.
Tony's related passions as a researcher and practitioner include the facilitation of learning in online and blended learning communities and the analysis of online learning conversations. In a previous life Tony worked for several years as an Economics and Business educator in South Africa and the United Kingdom. His qualifications include a Masters in Economics Education from the Institute of Education, University of London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Continuing Education and Training from City University in the UK.
The Centre for Educational Technology staff development team are currently in the closing stages of the "Information Communication Technologies in University Communities of Teaching" project in partnership with Intermedia at University of Oslo.
