Prof. Bob Moon

Bob Moon is Professor of Education at the Open University (UK). He joined the University in 1988, after more than twenty years as a secondary school teacher, including the headship of two large urban secondary schools. In 1991 he established the Centre for Research and Development in Teacher Education which includes the research group on International Development in Teacher Education. Bob Moon has written extensively on curriculum and teacher education (specialising in Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa). He has advised a range of national governments on education policy (including most recently Egypt, Lesotho, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Africa) and has also been an adviser to international organisations such as the EU, COL, OECD, UNESCO and the World Bank. His most recent publications include Institutional Approaches to Education within Higher Education in Europe, Paris, UNESCO (with Vlasceanu, L. and Barrows, L. C.), and to be published later this year is Distance Learning for Teacher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa: A Toolkit for Policymakers, Planners and Educators (with Leach, J. and Stevens, M.).
