Dr. Speranza Ndege

Dr. Ndege is an Educationalist with over 15 years practical experience in training and advisory services. She holds a PhD from Ghent University, Belgium, a Master of Arts (M.A) in Literature and a Bachelor or Education (B.Ed) from the University of Nairobi. She is currently studying for a second M.Sc in Information Systems at University of Sunderland – UK in conjunction with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture And Technology Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. Ndege is currently the Director of African Virtual University/e-Learning Centre at Kenyattta University as well as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Literature. Dr. Ndege has undertaken several relevant courses in Information Technology related field and has ample knowledge of e-Learning (including Electronic Document Management and Website Design); and Distance Education.

She has been involved in research work in Kenya especially carrying out qualitative and quantitative data gathering and analysis. She has also been involved in training of university students to acquire teaching skills for high schools and tertiary institutions. Dr. Ndege has specifically designed and administered questionnaires for various baseline surveys. She has been involved in participatory researches in Nyanza, Kisii, Meru, Narok, Kirinyaga, Kiambu among others; trainings for National Census and Gender. Her researches have been in areas of alleviation of poverty, gender, child-abuse, informal education and socio-cultural beliefs and practices.

Dr. Ndege has both facilitated and participated in various Workshops, Conferences and Seminars in areas of Gender, Information Technology, Open and Distance Education among others. Administratively, she has carried out a number of University responsibilities, which include, Student Registration Officer, Examination Officer, Student Academic Advisor and Counseling. She has acted as Head of the Literature Department on many occasions. She is also a board member of several committees. She has a number of publications.
