
Catherine Ngugi is Kenyan and a Senior Program Officer of the African Virtual University. She is the coordinator of the Research and Innovation Facility (RIF) which seeks to create and support Communities of Practice for Open, Distance and eLearning in Africa, which will serve as a foundation for the development of autochthonous Open, Distance and eLearning (ODeL) programs to increase access to higher education in Africa. Catherine holds an MA from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies. She has worked in both the private and the public sector, in East and West Africa. Her Unit, the RIF, has developed the AVU’s Open Educational Resource Architecture which will be shared with eLearning Africa 2006 participants, who opt to attend the AVU’s ODeL pre-conference seminar on Wednesday 24th May, 2006.
