The new features introduced at eLA 2007 in Nairobi were highly appreciated by all stakeholders and will be offered again at eLA 2008 in Accra to extend the scope and outreach of the conference, adding significant value for both presenters and attendees:
- Up-country workshops before and/or after the main conference in regional centers of Ghana.
- Public lectures at universities in Accra prior to the conference.
- A series of lectures to be held up-country at Ghanaian tertiary institutions for awareness and capacity development on eLearning services prior to the conference.

- The second High-Level Policy Maker and Industry Leader Round Table and Retreat: “Accelerating the Building of ICT Infrastructures and Capacities for African Educational Systems”
- The MERLOT Africa Network (MAN) Council will host the First Africa Forum on Open Educational Resources (OER) on May 28th. MAN is a network of African higher education institutions affiliated with the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT). The First Africa Forum themes focus on global awareness of OER, universal access for all to high quality teaching and learning resources, equal access through internationalisation of resources with multi-language capabilities and research, as well as OER Global Communities of Practices. The event is organised by MAN in collaboration with eLearning Africa and the African Virtual University.
