60 students from the Kibi Teacher Training College in Kibi, Eastern Region, accompanied by their college lecturer Mr Aundre Burke, participated at an eEducation familiarisation programme at the “Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration – GIMPA“ on April 4th, 2008. Mrs Vivian Attah from GIMPA and Mr Leopold Reif, eLearning Africa co-organiser, presented recent developments in eLearning in an African context.

A comment from Mr Burke after the lecture:

(April 9, 2008) “[The lecture] had a profound impact on my students. You would be amazed to know how many of them went on their own and registered for email addresses the weekend following our visit. In addition, for the purposes of my course and their lives, the practicality of staying abreast of ICT became real for them. Moreover, as a result of our trip, I have been challenged by their questions to become a better resource to them--which I am certainly proud of. Thank you for this.”

Some of the lecturers and students, who participated in the second lecture on eLearning at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration – GIMPA on April 9th, 2008 in Accra. More than 20 participants, mostly lecturers, had a lively discussion about the development of eLearning services at their institution. Mrs Vivian Attah from GIMPA, The Reverend Emmanuel Dadebo from the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and Mr Leopold Reif presented recent developments in eLearning, and the opportunities the forthcoming eLearning Africa conference will provide for educational institutions in Ghana.

The Rector of GIMPA, Prof Stephen Adei welcomed all participants of the full-day programme and presented his initiatives for introducing advanced learning technologies at his institution.
