eLA & Canadian Council on Africa Sign Collaboration Agreement
Lucien Bradet, President, Canadian Council on Africa
In an unprecedented partnership for the Canadian eLearning industry, the Canadian Council on Africa (CCA) and International Conferences, Workshops and Exhibitions (ICWE) signed a collaboration agreement in Ottawa and Berlin, on March 15 2007 regarding collaboration on the upcoming 2007 eLearning Africa Conference in Nairobi, Kenya.
Noted Lucien Bradet, president of CCA “This type of collaboration is really what we are all about. It engages both our Canadian membership and international networks, tapping into existing African trade relations and drawing upon the organizational capacity of the Council and staff. On a fundamental level, it speaks to Canada’s ongoing commitment to Africa and, for us, explicitly introduces eLearning as an important and growing element in Canada’s African trade portfolio.”
The agreement was also facilitated by Dr. Ken Keirstead, a director of the council and president of the Lyceum Group, in conjunction with Rebecca Stromeyer, managing director of ICWE.
Stromeyer stated “The eLA organizers simply couldn’t have accomplished this all without the engagement and leadership of CCA. They have provided two of their regional VPs (Atlantic and Quebec) to give a hand in managing the eLA@Ca project and enabling the fund-raising efforts for African delegates. This includes CCA’s recruitment of the entire trade team as well as providing innovative technology-enabled mentoring tools such as an “eCommunity” that will lift the entire Canadian contingent up onto a very well-equipped plane for this year’s eLA event.”
