Canadian School Teacher to Speak at eLearning Africa Conference in Nairobi

Roberto Gauvin, directeur d'école au Centre d'apprentissage du Haut-Madawaska, has been accepted as a speaker at this year’s eLearning Africa (eLA) conference in Nairobi, Kenya from May 28 - 30.

Mr. Gauvin’s proposal, "Comment Nous Avons Créé une Communauté d'Apprentissage à l'Ecole à l'Aide du Cybercarnet", was selected by the eLA Review Committee for inclusion in the session, "Successful Strategies for Implementing ICT in Schools", which will take place on Wednesday May, 30 from 11.15 am - 12.45 pm.

QUAdopting ICT in schools requires system-wide strategies and approaches that often involve commitment throughout the school network from senior administration through to the local teacher. Presentations in this session will focus on the experience of adopting ICT in the school system and will highlight some of the challenges and barriers to be overcome, particularly in the developing world.

Speakers in the session will include Dr. Kenneth Kamwi Matengu, University of Namibia’s Multidisciplinary Research Centre, whose topic will be “What are the Barriers to ICT Adoption in Schools?, Roberto Gauvin, Centre d'apprentissage du Haut-Madawaska, Canada, on the topic Comment Nous Avons Créé une Communauté d'Apprentissage à l'Ecole à l'Aide du Cybercarnet”, Mondi Howard Makingu, Multimedia University, Malaysia, on “Introduction of eLearning Resources in Malaysian Smart Schools: A Blended Learning Strategy in Secondary Schools, Dr. Paola Masperi, EuroTalk Ltd., UK, whose topic will be “EuroTalk's Cutting-Edge eLearning Solutions for African Schools: a Pilot Project with the Government of Malawi”, and Francois Donfack, Lycée Joss Douala, Cameroon, speaking on Développement Professionnel des Enseignant par les TIC: Cas du Lycée Joss de Douala-Cameroun.
