QUHow can information strategies be established and implemented within an organisation? How can information projects be assessed? These questions are answered by the third component in the IMARK information management resource kit, "Investing in Information for Development".

IMARK is a partnership-based e-learning initiative to train individuals and support institutions and networks worldwide in the effective management of agricultural information. It consists of a suite of distance learning resources, tools and communities on information management.

The IMARK module looks at the changes resulting from the new information environment and describes how information and communication technologies affect information operations within organisations.

The curriculum comprises 19 lessons of around 30 minutes each, covering the following topics: information for development, information strategy, information access, information dissemination, organisation and management and project evaluation.

The lessons and materials that make up the module, as well as other IMARK modules are available free of charge via the IMARK website or on CD-ROM. Users may register online free of charge to access the contents of the modules.

The French version of the module was produced by the Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) with financial support from the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and UNESCO.

For a free CD-ROM of the module in French, write to: CIRAD, TA173/04, 34398 Montpellier cedex 5, France or imark-cirad@cirad.fr.
