Learning Technologies Bring Opportunities for Education in Africa

Berlin, Germany. Dakar, Senegal. The call for proposals for this year’s eLearning Africa conference has just been closed. The organising team received another record-breaking number of submissions. Nearly 400 proposals have been received – a quarter being from francophone countries.

The fourth event in the series of pan-African conferences on ICT for Development, Education and Training will take place from May 27 - 29 in the Hotel Le Méridien in Dakar.

"We are positively overwhelmed by the response to the public call," says Eva Bloudanis, Project Manager of eLearning Africa. "We received notice of so many interesting projects and initiatives currently underway in all parts of Africa, showing a wealth of opportunities to bring education in all sectors forward with the help of digital technologies.” The programme committee is currently evaluating and selecting the proposals and the conference programme is set to be finalised by the end of March.

eLearning Africa is the key event on ICT for development, education and training on the African continent. Its mission is to bring people together who are actively engaged in education and in the implementation of learning technologies in schools, universities, corporate training programmes as well as in education in the public sector.

Participants are policymakers such as Ministers of Education, representatives from government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), development agencies and international organisations, senior executives from businesses, as well as practitioners from all fields of education. The conference will be held in both English and French.
