eLearning Africa News Portal relaunch: Sharing Africa’s eLearning knowledge

Berlin, Germany. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. eLearning Africa's newly designed news portal is now online. It features new social media links, improved site navigation and enhanced multimedia. The portal covers the most relevant news and information in the field of ICT for Development and Education in Africa. Stories cover, for example, issues such as the eBook market in Kenya, mobile training solutions for farmers in Uganda, how computer labs are provided for South African students, or in-depth information on China’s investment in the African telecom sector.

Readers are now invited to discuss and comment on articles and podcasts both via social media links and on the site. They are encouraged to share their own eLearning stories, submit new story ideas or send their photographs.

The new portal also highlights original research in a bid to nurture African knowledge production and to encourage conversation on eLearning theory.

Audio and video podcasts and slide shows open up new perspectives. eLearning Africa’s blog, Facebook and LinkedIn pages and tweets continue to keep readers abreast of the latest developments.

"The relaunch of our news portal takes eLearning Africa to the next level in digital technology," said Rebecca Stromeyer, publisher of the eLearning Africa News Portal and founder of the eLearning Africa conference. "What hasn't changed is our commitment. eLearning Africa will continue to be one of the main sources of information on learning opportunities in conjunction with technologies such as computers, the Internet, mobile devices and audiovisual media in Africa. Now more than ever, our portal will be a hub for sharing ideas and in doing so serve as a catalyst for the vibrant multinational community of practice in this field.”

Launched in 2006, the eLearning Africa portal has been structured around the annual eLearning Africa conference, the premier pan-African networking event designed to connect ICT4D and ICT4E experts from all sectors and levels throughout Africa and beyond.
