The Honourable Professor Dominic Kwaku Fobih, the Ghanaian Minister for Education, Science and Sports was born in 1942 in Assin Jakai, Central Region, Ghana. An educationalist by profession, Professor Fobih obtained his Master’s and PhD degrees from the Universities of Dalhousie and Alberta (Canada) respectively. His illustrious career path has included a period as a classroom teacher, a university professor and as Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Cape Coast (Ghana), where he held the position from 1996 to 2000.
During his professional career, Professor Fobih has been the recipient of several national and international awards, including the prestigious Howard Mann Award (1974) and a Fulbright Fellowship (2000) as a Senior African Scholar.
Professor Fobih is actively involved within his Constituency. His commitment includes being a founding member of the Assin Jakai Youth Association and the Assin Youth Association, and serving as patron of the Assin Students Union (University of Cape Coast Branch) and the Assin Citizens’ Association (Cape Coast Branch).
