Submission of Proposals
Submission of a suggestion for a Workshop, Seminar or Meeting to take place on the pre-conference day, Wednesday, May 28, 2008.
The pre-conference agenda programme includes various types of optional organised activities, which have proved to be very successful. Not only are such activities excellent opportunities in themselves to learn a new skill, enhance your knowledge or gather information about a specific topic, but they are also extremely valuable pre-conference networking activities in their own right. These activities include:
A full- or half-day Workshop, which is typically a very practical session offering participants the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight from leading experts into a specialised field, topic or skill. These small, focused learning sessions offer attendees a unique opportunity to develop their skills or knowledge in a particular area. The emphasis is on activity and interaction, participants expect that there will be time to discuss the topic, ask questions and share information and experience. The number of participants is usually limited to less than 30.
A full- or half-day Seminar, which is typically a knowledge sharing session focused on a specific topic. It normally provides in-depth insight into a particular project or set of projects, an initiative or development in the field of eLearning or an emerging issue being faced by the eLearning community. The emphasis is on knowledge dissemination; the number of participants can vary from 20 to 150 depending on the topic. Seminars can include project dissemination events, which are aimed at a public audience, public meetings aimed at building cross-border consortia and special interest groups and marketing events for initiatives, applications or services.
A full- or half-day Meeting, which is typically targeted to a specific set of participants and so this is essentially a private activity not announced on the conference web site or in the publicly available documents. Meetings include consortium meetings for projects and can be arranged for groups of between 10 and 150.
Generally, these meetings will take place on Wednesday, May 28, 2008. However, in particular cases they can also be arranged during the conference agenda. Please note that it is not the intention of the conference organisers to include any specific content relating to these activities in the published Book of Abstracts.
Most such activities are optional and participants must pre-register. Many require a separate payment by participants, which is required at the time of registration. Various costing options are available for each activity depending on the type of activity.
Should you wish to propose a workshop, seminar or meeting to take place before May 28 or after May 30, 2008, please contact proposals@elearning-africa.com.
The conference organisers will contact you, if your proposal has been accepted to make further arrangements.
