  • Receive and prioritise statements of needs and collaborate with prospective institutions and organisations to refine scope and develop work plan for collaboration and/or consortia.
  • Identify and analyse African healthcare technology infrastructure status and needs in order to aggressively pursue and enhance collaborations in terms of online education, research, training and access to other areas of healthcare infrastructure development.
  • Identify key stakeholders in the healthcare arena and their roles and responsibilities in supporting the existing healthcare IT framework.
  • Interact and coordinate with institutions and organisations regarding identification of standards.
  • Evaluate, prioritise and select specific manageable projects for collaboration.
  • Explore the latest thinking around building a comprehensive model of healthcare infrastructure technology required to support the collaboration, coordination and change management components necessary to enable sustainable, successful, mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Develop individual project articulation agreements to meet needs and requirements of participating institutions and organisations.
  • Work in collaboration with prospective participating institutions and organisations to meet project schedule and timelines.

Proposed Agenda:

  • Main goals are to provide information/presentation of needs from invited participants (colleges/universities, ministries of health, healthcare NGOs, healthcare delivery organisations and institutions).
  • Case Studies: review technology infrastructure material and human resource assets and needs.
  • Round table discussions: compare and contrast potential for collaborations.
  • Presentation of reports from each group: calculate knowledge enhancement, skill acquisition, networking capacity/capability and resource identification.
  • Summary: identification of sustainable results-oriented outcomes and next steps.

Target Audience:

Participation of leaders from across the healthcare enterprise: University Medical Schools, Healthcare NGOs, Senior Healthcare Administrators, Ministries of Health and other government agencies responsible for healthcare delivery.

Prerequisite Knowledge:

A practical understanding of the various processes and leadership roles that form a healthcare structure within a medical institution/organisation and/or national healthcare system.

Outcomes:

After participating in this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Benefit from the combination of technology tools, resources and educational content provided by information technology participants and human resources.
  • Identify and raise awareness of the benefits of bilateral and multilateral collaborations for knowledge enhancement, skill acquisition, networking in a multi-dimensional and multi-faceted sphere of healthcare infrastructure and medical technology.
  • Create opportunities for ongoing support and for regional networks to support and enhance healthcare delivery in Africa.
  • Recognise the components for successful appropriate healthcare technology infrastructure models in Africa for sustainable collaborations and/or consortia.
  • Establish a draft individual project articulation agreement which meets the needs and requirements of the specific participating institution and organisation for next steps.
