Tutaleni Asino

Tutaleni I. Asino, is an experienced researcher, educator, and designer with a passion for finding innovative ways to use technology for learning, teaching and organisational performances. He is an Associate Professor in Educational Technology and Director of the Emerging Technology and Creativity Research Lab in School of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Aviation at the Oklahoma State University's College of Education and Human Sciences.

He conducts research across the globe, in informal and formal learning spaces through a comparative lens. His areas of research, writing, and presentations include: adoption and use of Emerging Technologies in Learning environments, Contextually appropriate learning technologies, Comparative and International Education, Mobile Learning and Design for Mobile Devices, Indigenous knowledge, Diffusion of Innovations, Open Education, and how culture, agency, and representation manifest themselves and interplay in the development and evaluation of learning technologies across learning contexts.

He is an active member of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) where he served as president of the Culture, Learning and Technology Division in the AECT; the Comparative International Education Society (CIES) where he has served as Chair of the Indigenous Knowledge Special Interest Group and the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education where he served as Co-Chair of the African Perspective Group.

Tutaleni holds a dual Ph.D. in Learning, Design & Technology and in Comparative International Education from Penn State University. A B.A. in Political Science and Media Studies; M.Sc. in Multimedia Technologies, and M.A in Corporate Communication from Duquesne University; and a M.Sc. in Instructional Systems from Cabrini College.

 




Tutaleni I. Asino est un éducateur, chercheur et concepteur innovant, spécialisé dans l’usage des technologies aux fins d’apprentissage, d’enseignement et de performance organisationnelle. Maître de conférences en technologies éducatives, il dirige le laboratoire de recherche sur les technologies émergentes et la créativité à la Faculté d’Éducation et de Sciences humaines de l’Université d’État de l’Oklahoma. Il mène des recherches comparatives à l’échelle mondiale sur l’adoption des technologies émergentes dans des environnements d’apprentissage formels et informels. Il est un expert notamment de l’apprentissage mobile, des savoirs autochtones, de l’éducation ouverte et de la diffusion des innovations. Par ailleurs, il est membre actif de l’Association pour la communication et les technologies de l’éducation (AECT) et de la Société internationale de l’éducation comparée (CIES). Il est titulaire d’un double doctorat en apprentissage, conception et technologies, et en éducation internationale comparative, obtenu à l’Université de Penn State, ainsi que plusieurs diplômes en communication et systèmes pédagogiques.

Lors d’eLearning Africa 2023, le professeur Tutaleni I. Asino évoquera l’impact de traumatismes sur le développement cognitif, social et émotionnel des apprenants, ainsi que l’importance de la pédagogie éclairée par le traumatisme dans la mise en œuvre d’expériences d’apprentissage significatives.
