André Dietrich

André Dietrich received a Ph.D. in Engineering at the Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg. Currently, he is a researcher at the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg at the Software Engineering and Robotics Department.   He is originally a robotics and embedded systems developer, with interests in programming languages and paradigms. Due to his participation in the Industrial-eLab He and now CrossLabs project, he had to turn to web development. These project aim to make university laboratories accessible to students online.   Struggling with the adaptability and complexity of different Learning Management System (LMS) and authoring tools for educational content, he started to develop the markup language LiaScript. The goal of was to develop an easy to use and simple to adapt textual description of educational content, which can be interpreted various ways. The same description can be turned into an ordinary interactive textbook, a presentation, or a YouTube like screencast.
